Who are we?
The Professional Sheet Metal Workers Local 20 is an Indiana state wide organization with seven areas; Evansville, Fort Wayne, Gary, Indianapolis, Lafayette, South Bend, and Terre Haute. We have five training centers which are located in Indianapolis, Evansville, Portage, Fort Wayne, and South Bend. Local 20 is committed to offering the best training in the nation. Our training takes place in some of the most modern facilities in the country including a Nationally recognized Testing, Adjusting, and Balancing Lab, a Service Lab that provides hands on instruction of all HVAC equipment, 5 accredited test facilities allowing us to provide weld certifications to our members for the American Welding Society (AWS), and 5 accredited Detailing Labs where students earn instruction of Auto-Cad and Benchmark. Our program is comprehensive and requires time, commitment, and attention. The courses taken are demanding and require dedication, repetition, practice and professional instruction.
What is a Sheet Metal Worker?
Sheet Metal Workers are recognized for always being the best at the myriad of crafts they perform. Sheet Metal Workers are unique in the construction industry as the only trade that designs, manufactures and installs their own products. These skilled craftspeople take ordinary types of flat metal and make them into specialized products for various duct and ventilation systems, as well as architectural and specialized metal fabrication. The types of careers our students and members are trained for include Air Conditioning, Architectural Metal Fabrication and Installation, Auto-Cad Detailing and Design, Heating, HVAC Service Work and Testing, Industrial Fabrication and Installation, Industrial Welding, Testing/Adjusting/Balancing (TAB), and Ventilating.
